For the Dark Gods! [Warhammer 40k - Black Crusade]

Recommended Posts

Aurelia's thoughts were interrupted by a hungry growl from her stomach. "Ah, the ever hungry daemon." She chuckled to herself. Her new map listed a number of eateries nearby, with one of them being just a block away.

[Ten minutes have passed.]

Aurelia sat down with her tray of food inside the busy eatery. It was far from the healthiest food - Cheeseburgers have apparently lasted the many millennia up until the present - but it did conserve her funds somewhat. She sipped at her soda, overhearing parts of a nearby conversation.

".... said the Enforcers picked up this weird group of teenagers." A tired sounding man remarked.

"What about them? Pretty normal to see teens doing stupid shit." His interlocutor sucked loudly at a nearly-empty milkshake.

"They were covered in these weird tattoos, though. All of 'em. Chemmed outta their gourd, too... It was in this one hab with a huge speaker system that played this weird bass track. Officers came and broke up an orgy, they said. Neighbours complained about the noise."

"Frakkin' kids these days, Emperor-damned fools."

Aurelia mulled over the possible lead on a Slaaneshi cult as she ate her meal. She overheard a few more details as well.

The teens were all imprisoned in the local precinct for the time being, under guard after some of them attacked the officers like madmen.

'This will prove interesting. Two leads... The Nurgle group seems to be the safe bet, smaller and better organized. The Slaanesh group on the other hand would be easy enough to nurture into a massive cult that could pay off immensely... But she would need Victor's help, and it would force them to lay low and cover their tracks.'

This is the first alignment decision.  Following a given alignment will grant you easier negotiation with a given god's followers, as well as open up more options that will be marked by the god's primary colour.

Khorne and Slaanesh oppose each other, as do Tzeentch and Nurgle. Alignment toward one side will decrease favour with the other.

Khorne is also a special case, since Aurelia is a psyker. If Aurelia uses psychic powers, Khorne will ignore her PERMANENTLY. If she avoids these powers, he may seal her psychic power and bestow great physical prowess upon her.

Nurgle - Meet the community group.

Slaanesh - Free the pleasure cult. This will draw more attention, but greater risk means greater reward.

This vote will kickstart the real meat of the story.

Edit: Khorne and Tzeentch options would have been revealed if different paths were taken, and they will open up later through other means. Until Aurelia acquires the Mark of one of the Dark Gods, her alignment can fluctuate.

For some time now, I've bounced around the idea of a story in the 40k universe with omo elements, and after some consideration, I decided to give this a whirl! This thread will be about the trial

cheeseburger in warhammer.

The Imperium has billions of populated worlds, I can imagine all sorts of things sticking around... Though I doubt most would realize they're eating something made with a 38,000 year old recipe.

Papa Nurgle and his followers are generally pretty friendly, they're all about kindness and life in general.

Bacteria and virii are just a lot more common a life-form than humans are.

The possibilities here are endless~

Slaanesh. Slaanesh isn't directly or diametrically opposed to papa nurgs as other choices (that will undoubtedly pop up). Besides, will give Vic a chance to show his stuff.

Petite woman with fallen angel of death leads cult to planetary takeover.

The fanfiction is so ready to start.

Once Aurelia had finished her meal, she made her way back to the forest with the utmost haste. Knowing the Imperium, those Slaaneshi cultists would likely be executed once word reached the Arbites representative in the capital, so her objective was of the utmost urgency.

[One hour has passed.]

Victor appeared to be whittling away at a small piece of wood as Aurelia returned. The marine had assembled a sturdy-looking lean-to in relatively short order, it appeared - His work was almost done.

Aurelia cleared her throat as she walked up to the towering warrior.

He looked up reluctantly. "Something of import?"

Aurelia's grin was all he needed to see to confirm his suspicions.

"Yep, though I'll need your strength. I eavesdropped around town and it seems a Slaaneshi cult has just been detained for their debauchery. Minions for our work would be nice, and we might just score a proper hide-out in the process. No offense to your construction skills, but I prefer beds and floors to grass and dirt."

Victor rolled his eyes and unclipped his helmet from his hip, placing it upon his head and locking the seal with a twist and a hiss of air.

"It is a good thing that women are not compatible with the process used to create Space Marines. You, Aurelia, would make the poorest of initiates." Victor chuckled, a harsh, resounding boom added to his voice by the speaker in his helmet. Angry red lenses focused upon the psyker, and despite her familiarity, Aurelia's heart almost skipped a beat. The horned midnight blue helmet truly completed the image of a Chaos Space Marine, scourge of millions of worlds.

"Time is short, Aurelia." Victor growled, shaking her from her thoughs as his gargantuan hand wrapped around her side and he easily lifted her from the ground, carrying her like a plank of wood.

"H-hey! We could at least use a groundcar!"

"You seem to forget that I weigh over a ton in my armor." The marine countered, ignoring Aurelia's futile attempts to preserve her dignity in the face of being manhandled.

"If you weren't so useful, I swear I'd kill you with mind bullets." Aurelia moped as Victor began to run in the direction of the town, dodging his way through trees at a breakneck pace. Her complaint was ignored.

She did however have time to formulate a plan...

1.) Night-time raid: Communications outside of local areas are difficult on this world from the sounds of it, providing the opportunity to strike during the night and catch the Enforcers as they slowly doze off.

2.) Infiltration via catacombs: Any Imperium world worth more than a few throne gelt has a series of catacombs between important structures, for use in wartime or rapid transit by the Adeptus Mechanicus, it is simply connected to the sewers. This option is risky, as it may burn far more, or far less time to reach the cells - Aurelia does not have a map of these tunnels.

3.) Immediate frontal assault in broad daylight: Exactly what it says on the tin. Victor would barrel into combat headfirst with Aurelia taking up a support role with her magic. Victor has had the presence of mind to carry the rest of Aurelia's kit in his free hand.

The longer Aurelia waits, the fewer cultists may remain, likewise the 'louder' entrances will bring the government of this world down harder, and it will take far longer to lose any notoriety.

we don't know what kind of heat they're packing. It could just be a few guards, or it could be 20 or 30...

20 or 30 militiamen from the sounds of this town even so far. Not even Imperial Guard. Beneath Victor's notice.

But not below annoyance.

Night-battle! Night raid! Obviously the best choice from known information. The other two would just be silly. Catacombs would be a crapshoot. Broad daylight would be suicide. Victor would take over the town single handedly, but Aurelia is isn't made of a whole-god-damn-ton of ceramite.

Night raid.

Aurelia was thankful that Victor could keep up the breakneck pace they had started out with - After only fifteen minutes, the pair had slipped into the edge of town. Aurelia felt it was easy enough to hide her weaponry with her cloak, especially with the dimming light. Her comrade on the other hand was demonstrating just how agile Astartes could truly be, moving with surprising grace and stealth from rooftop to rooftop. The precinct loomed ahead, across an open plaza with little cover. Through the glass doors and front windows, it was obvious that guard was light, and those on guard duty seemed more preoccupied with staying awake than keeping their eyes focused on the surroundings.

Aurelia clutched her amulet, praying to the Dark Gods that her plan would go off without a hitch.

There are numerous ways the battle can unfold, and posts will have more direct impact - They will be shorter, and related to direct action until combat subsides.

Aurelia and Victor have discussed three avenues of assault;

1.) Signal Victor to drop from the rooftops and charge in with his chainsword at the ready, with Aurelia providing support fire with her laspistol. (Fast, brutal, but may result in higher notoriety, and thus less places to hide.)

2.) Use Doombolt to blow the doors in and overwhelm the guards long enough for Victor to enter from the roof. (Aurelia fully rested, and has just issued prayers to Tzeentch, along with the others. Perhaps the Lord of Change will appreciate a show of sorcery, solidarity in his realm of power. Guards will react more slowly, as sorcery is all but unheard of on this world. Doombolt is a very unique spell, however... Anybody who has seen it before will know it immediately.)

3.) Aurelia will conceal her combat gear nearby, and play the bait a as a honey trap. (Risky, as Victor would stay back until Aurelia signals, but there is a chance she may acquire means to break the group out from inside... Providing more bodies to soak fire and deal with the guards.)

Just a friendly reminder that the options are coded to show influence/infamy gain with a certain god.

Posts will become more regular this week, especially from Thursday onward.
