About This File

Does anyone remember this when it was uploaded to the gallery?

Well I recently came into contact with this MUGEN character, and decided to upload it here for all to enjoy.

How do i even run this?

Here is what I did:

1) Created a new folder named "Mugen" located on my desktop (This step is not strictly necessary, but I didn't want to root through my downloads folder)

ie. C:\Users\Account Name Here\Desktop\Mugen

2) Downloaded Mugen 1.0 to the "Mugen" folder (I used Softonic, but I'm not sure how good that site is)

3) Downloaded the file from this thread to the "Mugen" folder

"Mugen" folder contains: mugen_100.zip, wagahai.zip

4) Extract mugen_100.zip (I used 7-zip)

"Mugen" folder contains: mugen_100.zip, wagahai.zip, mugen_100

5) Extract wagahai.zip to the chars folder inside the newly extracted mugen_100 folder

In other words, extract wagahai.zip to: C:\Users\Account Name Here\Desktop\Mugen\mugen_100\mugen\chars

The chars folder should now contain 3 folders (if you hadn't already added other characters)

6) Go up a level and instead open the data folder

In other words, navigate to C:\Users\Account Name Here\Desktop\Mugen\mugen_100\mugen\data

7) You should see a file named "select.def". Open it.

8) Scroll down until you see ";Insert your characters below." and add "wagahai, stages/wagahai.def" on a new line.

9) Go up a level and click on "mugen.exe"

In other words, navigate to C:\Users\Account Name Here\Desktop\Mugen\mugen_100\mugen\mugen.exe

The game should start and you will now have wagahai as a playable character.

I still have no idea why my character shows up with a different appearance than the one in the screenshot, but the animations all work just fine.

If someone with actual expertise/experience in the area could enlighten me, it would be much appreciated.

When you get to step 7 and get to open "Select.def" What file type do you need to open this in? It tells me I need to pick a file type. I've tried opening in the newly download MUGEN Engine, but I can't get the Select to work.

I used Notepad to edit the def file. You should be able to use any text file editor. (With the exception of processors like ms word which use a weird formatting)

You can always try:
Right-click on Select.def -> Left-click "edit" of "edit with notepad" (whichever one shows up)

Alternately you could:

Right-click on Select.def -> Left-click "open with" and select notepad (or whichever program you normally use)

Ok, so I got everything downloaded and in place, but when I downloaded the wagahai file, it downloaded as a .rar file instead of a .zip file. Anyone know why this sort of thing is happening?
